Hello Book Lovers,
This morning I woke up and jumped on goodreads and I noticed that Rebel of the Sands #2 had a synopsis! The title had been revealed earlier and that was awesome, but once I read the synopsis I thought… I definitely need to talk about this!
I have a full review of Rebel of the Sands, if you are interested in my thoughts from book one, feel free to check it out!
Traitor to the Throne
‘Mere months ago, gunslinger Amani al’Hiza fled her dead-end hometown on the back of a mythical horse with the mysterious foreigner Jin, seeking only her own freedom. Now she’s fighting to liberate the entire desert nation of Miraji from a bloodthirsty sultan who slew his own father to capture the throne.
When Amani finds herself thrust into the epicenter of the regime—the Sultan’s palace—she’s determined to bring the tyrant down. Desperate to uncover the Sultan’s secrets by spying on his court, she tries to forget that Jin disappeared just as she was getting closest to him, and that she’s a prisoner of the enemy. But the longer she remains, the more she questions whether the Sultan is really the villain she’s been told he is, and who’s the real traitor to her sun-bleached, magic-filled homeland.
Forget everything you thought you knew about Miraji, about the rebellion, about djinni and Jin and the Blue-Eyed Bandit. In Traitor to the Throne, the only certainty is that everything will change.’ – Goodreads
After the synopsis release I was left with only one thing on my mind… Amani is back… and where the hell is Jin!
Rebel of the Sands was my favourite debut novel so far of 2016, I absolutely loved the premise of this story, I liked Amani and I loved Jin. Everything about the first story in this trilogy was a win for me! Now here we all are anticipating the release of book two, and I find out Jin has disappeared. Which is clearly unacceptable, because he is my favourite character. Yes I liked Amani, she was a strong, stubborn and fiery female protagonist, however she made some questionable decisions and didn’t learn from some of her mistakes. Hopefully the next book I will see more of her character development, and I can’t wait for that.
From the synopsis, it gives me the vibe we have a time jump, which is going to be interesting. A lot can happen in a few months, so I’m intrigued to see where we open with Amani and the rebels. I do wonder whether Amani has infiltrated the Sultan’s palace on purpose or whether her capture wasn’t planned. Either way, I can’t wait to read about the Sultan, all we have at the moment is stories about him and his brutal ways so it will be interesting to see the interactions with him. It’s hard to imagine the Sultan convincing Amani that he is not the villain though.
It’s going to be an interesting journey, and a long wait for release date!
Here’s what I am hoping for from Traitor to the Throne:
- A stunningly beautiful cover to match the stunningly beautiful cover of Rebel of the Sands.
- An explanation on where Jin has gone, and why.
- More magic and mythical creatures!
- Some awesome character development for Amani.
I will post a picture of the cover when it is released, but for now please tell me below if you are anticipating this release, what your thoughts are on the synopsis and we can discuss!
