Goodreads Monday: Finding Wonders

Hey Book Lovers!

Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme hosted by Lauren @ Lauren’s Page Turners and I cannot wait to bring you another book that is sitting on my TBR!

What is Goodreads Monday you ask? Goodreads Monday is picking a book that is on our TBR and showing it off, and I just love showing off books, so today I am showing off Finding Wonders: Three Girls Who Changed Science by Jeannine Atkins.

Published:

September 20th 2016 by Atheneum Books for Young Readers

Synopsis:

Maria Merian was sure that caterpillars were not wicked things born from mud, as most people of her time believed. Through careful observation she discovered the truth about metamorphosis and documented her findings in gorgeous paintings of the life cycles of insects.

More than a century later, Mary Anning helped her father collect stone sea creatures from the cliffs in southwest England. To him they were merely a source of income, but to Mary they held a stronger fascination. Intrepid and patient, she eventually discovered fossils that would change people’s vision of the past.

Across the ocean, Maria Mitchell helped her mapmaker father in the whaling village of Nantucket. At night they explored the starry sky through his telescope. Maria longed to discover a new comet—and after years of studying the night sky, she finally did.

My Comments:

Finding Wonders: Three Girls Who Changed Science is a book I received in my December YA Chronicles box and I am so excited to read this one. Focusing on three women throughout history, this book written in verse is supposed to be inspiring and beautifully told.

So that is it for me today, and if you have read Finding Wonders definitely let me know I would love to hear your thoughts on the book!

Thanks again to  Lauren’s Page Turners for creating this weekly meme, I love joining in!

Happy Reading Book Lovers!
